AhlulBayt News Agency: The Gaza media office has stated that remarks made by Israeli opposition leader Yair Golan amount to a "clear admission of genocide" against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Golan, a retired general and leader of the Democrats party, criticized Israel’s ongoing military actions on Tuesday. He said that “a sane country doesn’t engage in fighting against civilians, doesn’t kill babies as a hobby, and doesn’t set for itself the goals of expelling a population.”
The media office described his remarks as a direct acknowledgment from within Israel’s military establishment of the crime of genocide against Palestinians.
It added that Israel’s military actions, coupled with inflammatory rhetoric, reflect the occupation’s true nature as a racist colonial entity practicing systematic terrorism in plain sight of the world.
According to reports from the media office, Israeli forces killed more than 50 people on Tuesday, including 33 children.
In a statement on Telegram, the office asserted that the growing death toll represents a "complete crime" and demonstrates the Israeli regime’s persistent use of killing and starvation as instruments of war.
Since October 7, 2023, at least 17,400 children in Gaza have been killed, including 15,600 whose identities have been confirmed. Many others remain buried under rubble and are presumed dead, according to health officials.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been accused by the International Criminal Court (ICC) of war crimes and crimes against humanity due to his regime’s military campaign in Gaza.
Human rights groups have accused Netanyahu’s administration of deliberately targeting civilians and using starvation as a method of warfare. The blockade of humanitarian aid has fueled global condemnation of Israel’s actions.
